The air pollution is expected to be reduced by over 11 thousand tons per year by the exploitation of Metro Line 3.
The third metro line in Sofia has been officially launched during the summer of 2020. The central part of Line 3, that is already in use, is an 8 km long trace and includes 8 metrostations between bul. Vl. Vazov /MS “Hadzhi Dimityr”/ and Krasno selo /MS “Krasno selo”/.
The construction of the line began in 2016 and has been completed in December 2019. The German tunnel boring machine Vitosha was used in the construction of the trace. Metropolitan expects 110 thousand of passengers per day to use the new metro line. It has also increased the total number of passengers that are using the subway which are expected to be over half a million per day. The traffic jams on the streets above the trace will be reduced by 25% as well as the number of the cars per day will drop by 14 thousand. Those predictions are related to positive impact on the environment - it is expected that the air pollution will be reduced by over 11 thousand tons per year by the exploitation of Metro Line 3.
The team of BS Konstructia participated in the construction of the green metro line in Sofia, with the metro station "Boulevard Bulgaria", which was awarded a special prize in the national contest "Building of the Year" 2020.
